Resounding Rivers

Six site-specific sound installations exhibited across Belfast. In conjunction with PLACE Built Environment Centre and Belfast City Council. 6th May – 5th June 2010.

 

Blackstaff is Belfast

Locative media sound walk accompanied by gallery based video installation. Exhibited within the ISEA 2009 juried exhibit held at Ormeau Baths, Belfast from 7th -29th of August, 2009.

 

The Fountain Experiment

Design of sound recognition and augmentation software for implementation upon a mobile device. Project conceived and constructed over a month long residency at the Pervasive Media Studios, Bristol in April of 2009 with support from HP Labs, Bristol.

 

In Hear, Out there: Yokohama

Locative media sound walk distributed across the grounds of the Yokohama Baseball Stadium, Yokohama, Japan.Created specifically for and exhibited within the Dislocate Festival (www.dis-locate.net). Creation: 3 – 13th September 2008, exhibit: 13th – 21st.

 

Present Place

Site-specific sound installation exhibited at the end of a month long residency within Ps2 Gallery, Belfast in which an in-depth observational study of the space was conducted. In response to the venue’s “Sounding out Space” series. 5 June -5 July 2008.

 

In Hear, Out There: Madrid

Locative media sound walk with mobile visual element. Original proposal selected by MediaLab-Prado for creation within the Inclusiva.net workshop/conference, Madrid, March 3-14 2008. Upon completion, work was exhibited within MediaLab, 26 March – 18 May 2008.

 

Cyclo-Phone

Exploration of the sonic potential of the Hewlett-Packard mScape mapping tool. The final piece was demonstrated within the MediaScape conference on the 3rd December 2007 held at HP Labs, Bristol.

 

Interface for ‘HEARIMPROV’

A commissioned instrument and visualisation for Adinda Van’t Klooster’s HEARIMPROV initiative. The device was utilised within a improvised musical performance, given by Adinda and colleagues, for the hearing impaired held at the Sage, Gateshead on the 17th October 2007.

 

ARIA-Phone

Mobile demonstration created for promotion of the school of Sonic Arts within the Queen’s University Innovation publication, showcased at the Invest Northern Ireland Innovation Conference, May 2007. In collaboration with Pedro Rebelo and Florian Hollerweger.

 

Time Machine

Commission piece for the Threshold Art Space, Perth Concert Hall within the Time exhibit. The work was an extension to the Lyre Bird Installation created one year previous (see earlier works), March – May 2007.
